Vulcan’s Hammer

I’ve just finished my first Phlip K. Dick novel, Vulcan’s Hammer (1960) in my queste to discover the scifi-galaxy. It is the book i would have picked for my readinglist in highschool, it’s really thin and easy to read ;) But seriously, i really enjoyed reading it!
It’s a fascinating story, that takes place in 2039 i think, about a machine (computer) that rules the world which has been placed into government after a worldwide nuclear war in 1992. A real technocracy where the machine is placed in the center of power by the people with the thought that only a machine can make real objective decisions and prevent war.
The computer is called Vulcan 3, an improved version of vulcan 2. It’s a ‘perfect’ society with no war but also no real freedom. While vulcan 3 rules the world, vulcan 2 is also still working and you know how older people like to stick to the technology of their age. To make a long story short, the two machines both use the people in their own in interest and war is the result. If you like to know how this ends, get yourself a copy!
