A rainbow just landed in my garden:
I’ve just finished my first Phlip K. Dick novel, Vulcan’s Hammer (1960) in my queste to discover the scifi-galaxy. It is the book i would have picked for my readinglist in highschool, it’s really thin and easy to read
But seriously, i really enjoyed reading it!
It’s a fascinating story, that takes place in 2039 i think, about a machine (computer) that rules the world which has been placed into government after a worldwide nuclear war in 1992. A real technocracy where the machine is placed in the center of power by the people with the thought that only a machine can make real objective decisions and prevent war.
The computer is called Vulcan 3, an improved version of vulcan 2. It’s a ‘perfect’ society with no war but also no real freedom. While vulcan 3 rules the world, vulcan 2 is also still working and you know how older people like to stick to the technology of their age. To make a long story short, the two machines both use the people in their own in interest and war is the result. If you like to know how this ends, get yourself a copy!
I’ve just listened to a dutch podcast, the slouriesource, that podcasted a Golden Earring jam session. Yes, they are still going strong, since 1965!
This is one of the best podcasts i’ve listened to so far!
I think this bootleg podcast can become a whole new genre, bootcasting or podlegging

Malik blogs about not being able to keep up with all the information coming his way in the form of e-mails, rss-feeds, books, magazines, phonecalls, voicemail etc:
On a more personal level this constant flow of info-gusher right into the brain is going to have a negative effect eventually. Irritability, the inevitable desire to keep up with what’s happening – everywhere. The dreaded question: what did I miss? What’s happening in the world out there?
Or as Rands, a Silicon Valley based geek, puts it:
This is advanced case of Nerd Attention Deficiency Disorder. I am unable to function at my desktop unless I’ve got, at least, five things going on at the same time. If your count came close, you’re probably afflicted, as well.
Besides all that, we now have to keep up with over 5000 podcast subscriptions…
Red Square has released version 1.0 of Podifier. An easy tool for creating and uploading your rss-feeds with podcasts included. Looks very slick and easy to operate! (Windows only for now)

Rojo came out of beta and i decided to get an account to find out what all the fuzz is about. I still don’t know…
Tags is the buzzword i think. One thing is for sure, it does not work as intuitive as bloglines.
But i’m not about to give up yet, so i’m gonna take the tour on the help page. I’ve got to understand what the excitement is about!
I’m following a live presentation by Bicycle Mark about podcasting coming from Sweden. I was able to ask him a question through a chatsession and it was answered live! Wow, this is inkernet thing is really interactive ![]()
I asked him what he thinks about podcasting getting more commercial, and the rumours that the castblastersoftware is going to be charged for. He thinks it’s a bit of a scarry thing, specially with Curry being the ‘leader’ of the podcastcommunity, on the other hand he knows what Adam would say: ‘Hey, if you don’t like it, stop following me’. There is some truth in there.
Expected June the 6th: Podcasting : Do it Yourself Pirate Radio for the Masses
