Ipodder and PocketPC

Let your pocketpc automatically Sync with the downloaded files from iPodder:

Step 1. Make sure your pocketPC is connected to your PC
Step 2. Startup ActiveSync and goto Tools->Options->Sync Options and in the list check the checkbox before ‘Files’
Step3. The pocketPC has created a new subfolder in your ‘My Documents’ called something like ‘Pocket_PC My Documents’
Step4. Create a subdirectory in this new folder which you are going to use as a download-folder
Step5. Put the path of this new created subfolder in the first line of feeds.txt
Step6. Now schedule iPodder to run once a day at a time that you are sleeping
Step7. Make sure that your PocketPC is connected with your pc while you sleep and that its scheduled to sync every hour or so.

Ok. You should now wake up with the newest downloads on your pocketPC.

i figured some sort of ipodder idea out myself with radio userland ( my post ) let’s test this one.

    I commented out lines 35-45 & 166-167 & it works for iTunes.
It’s a temp fix, but it works! :)

  5. Andrew says:

Sorry, wrong one, I meant to post this on the iPodder for Windows page.

  6. Kevin says:

How can I get the ipodder to recognize my SD card in my PocketPC as a valid dl directory?

    Podcasting
SUMMARY: personal take on the ‘what?’, the ’so what?’ and a bit of related history surrounding a relatively new phenomenon: podcasting DETAILS (the what/so-what/history follow shortly): There’s been a lot of buzz about podcasting over the last 5-6…

  8. Anonymous says:

What feeds.txt file are you referring to? I don’t see any such file on Windows

  9. I mean the feeds.txt of my iPodder script (http://www.ipportunities.nl/wordpress/index.php?p=31), you probably do not use this version cause there are better things on the market (though they do exactly the same) with easy installs, and graphical user interfaces (ipodder.org). Just make sure that the download folder of the iPodder application that your using is a subfolder of the one i describe in step3, so that your pocketpc can grab them from there.

Microsoft ActiveSync is only going to sync your podcasts to the _Main Memory_ of your PocketPC and will NOT sync to an SD or CompactFlash card and so is of very limited use for receiving podcasts which will quickly fill the typical 64MB of main memory. I have been using MightySync to move shows from my iPodder\downloads directory to my SD card and it works quite well although it does cost a few bucks.

  11. Russ says:

OK I read the pocket PC article for ipodder, only question, where is the “feeds.txt” file?

  12. steve says:

Anyway to get ipodder for windows to work through a firewall?

    Thanks in advanced,

    Steve

  13. Harry says:

Good Configuration for PodCasts on Pocket PC:
iPodder 1.1 (freeware) Downloads podcasts to your harddisk
MightySync (payware or pirate on eMule) syncs those podcasts to your sd card
xxcopy (freeware) moves older podcast files to backup directory

Download xxcopy and add this string to the iPodder/Preferences/Run this command…
    xxcopy “C:\Documents and Settings\foxyboy\Application Data\My Received Podcasts” “C:\Documents and Settings\foxyboy\Application Data\My Old Podcasts” /DB#3 /s /rc /yy
    /DB#3 /s /rc /yy

Every time a new podcast is downloaded, xxcopy moves podcasts older than 3 days (DB#3) to the archive root. Therefore, on the next sync, they are removed frokm your storage card - no SD card full problem!

    Que bueno!

  14. Harry says:

    ok so it is really:

    xxcopy /DB#3 /s /rc /yy

where is the directory entered enclosed in double quotes
and is wherever you want to move your archived podcasts, also in double quotes.

    Set it-Forget it!

  15. Khaless says:

You can also change the directory where the sync file are being stored. the methode in order to do that can be found there : http://www.geekswithblogs.net/blair.leduc/archive/2004/10/27/13359.aspx

  16. Tom says:

    Harry,

I got everything setup as you say but unless I run the xxcopy command from a dos prompt it doesn’t do anything. Here’s my Command line as set-up in ipodder:

    xxcopy “C:\Documents and Settings\Tom\My Documents\MighySync\iPodcast” “C:\TEMP” /DB#15 /s /rc /yy

    Any ideas?

where can i download ipooder for pocket pc?

  18. John says:

I use mobsync to sync files to my sd card. It’s smooth, doesn’t seem to hang on huge files, and is freeware. Bad news is that it is in Japanese. If you can figure it out it is well worth it.
